Brandon Flowers letting the crowd fill in the lyrics.

SNOWMASS — Lights pierced the darkening sky as the crowd screamed for the upcoming event, as people squeezed past for the closest possible spot. This was Jazz Fest 2016.

Instead of doing homework at home on a Saturday night, I was enjoying the packed, screaming front row of The Killers. The cold, damp bars were pushed up against me as little kids tried to duck through the crowd before the show started.

I looked around me and saw some people I knew in the distance. They were with other people, packed among strangers. I was all alone. I inched forward a little bit more. I had been waiting since 1:00 p.m. that afternoon.

Suddenly, the lights ripped open the pitch black sky. The drummers and guitarists were set up in place. They started the first song with a giant K behind them blinding the crowd. Finally the lead singer, Brandon Flowers, sauntered onto the stage. He rocked his bedazzled pink blazer on top of the rest of the stylish black outfit.

The Killers whole show had me singing along and dancing. I managed to get on the big screen a couple of times too, smiling and waving. The light shows were perfect and colorful, even if they were too bright. The crew always managed to jump from one side of the stage to the other, then back to the middle.

Their whole show had me entranced. I never got bored or cold during the performance and I even made new friends. All of Jazz Aspen’s performers did an amazing job and was definitely worth the money. I extremely recommend getting the Blind Faith passes for next years concerts, even if you do not know the artists before hand.
