SPOILERS – Episode 1 Season 4
Riverdale’s Season Four is finally airing one episode, one week at a time. The first episode came out on October 9th. One of the leading actors in Riverdale, Luke Perry, suffered from a massive ischemic stroke in his house in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles on February 27, 2019. He then had another stroke while on life support and his family follow the medical team’s recommendations to take him off life support on March 5.

When perry passed away, audiences became curious as to what would happen to his character in the show. Fans speculated ways that Riverdale’s producers might choose to replace Perry with a look-alike actor or have something happen to his character in the show.

Riverdale mourned and decided to dedicate the first episode of Season Four to paying tribute to their fellow actor that he will no longer be playing a very big role in their TV series.

Luke Perry’s character, Fred Andrews, was hit by a car driven by a son who stole the family car to go for a joy ride. As soon as Archie found out, his revenge side kicked in but when he went to pay his respects to his father, a woman pulled up and was going to do the same. Archie got the whole story and then went to find the guy who hit his dad.

When he gets to the man’s house who he believed hit his dad intentionally, Archie soon realized that the dad was just taking the blame for his son.

The reason behind making a dad took the blame for his son is because Fred Andrews would’ve done the same thing for Archie. Throughout the show Archie was put in bad situations with the law and Fred stood up every time to take his place and protect his son.

They dedicated a whole episode to the recognizing Luke Perry as Fred Andrews. They named the episode “In Memoriam” to show how much Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) was apart of Riverdale.

When Archie decides to bring his father home himself so he can be home before July 4th, Cheryl Blossom does a remarkable act to show her appreciation to Archie and his father then they arrive. Cheryl takes on the task of getting the whole town to line up and welcome Archie back into the town to show their appreciation towards Fred. This decision in the writing really made the episode that much more touching. Many people kept it together through the episode and lost it and started tearing up when this scene came on.

Cheryl feels she needs to show Fred the respect the town showed her brother. She pays for the fireworks to commemorate Fred and his amazing caring acts on the town.

Fred Andrews and Luke Perry will be forever missed in the hearts of everyone who has watched his shows. Riverdales take on this episode was very mature and thorough, and really brought Luke Perry’s passing into consideration, making the episode very touching and real.
