With the rise of coffee houses and a unique variety of spices, a Chai Latte has become a popular drink amongst Americans. Since everyone is now getting bitten by frost, what better way to cheer up than with a Chai Latte?
Although sometimes he is afraid to admit his love for a sugary drink, AHS senior Tucker Devlin is quite fond of Chai Lattes. It wasn’t until a few years ago that he tried it for the first time, and boy, was he hooked. This spiced tea beverage, sold hot or cold, now lives rent-free in Devlin’s mind. After asking Devlin how often he had Starbucks, he responded,
“Once a month, but I wish it were more,” Devlin said. Devlin enjoys his trips to Starbucks as they always have strong service and a welcoming atmosphere. However, Devlin believes that the logo is lacking in a few areas. He believes Aqua Man would be much more incredible than a mermaid, or maybe Aqua Man would make him feel less in touch with his feminine side when he sips out of the holiday cups. Devlin now considers himself a Starbucks Chai connoisseur, as he has tried them in many states around the U.S.
“Chai in Detroit Michigan tasted like dirt.” Devlin said.
He was very disappointed in the lack of spice and excessive water in his Chai at the Detroit, Michigan, airport; from my understanding, he won’t be back to that location and may have left them a poor yep review.
So how does the Chai expert himself take his Chai? Why does he enjoy it so much? Tucker prefers his Chai Venti, and iced, even in the winter. To him, this drink tastes like vanilla and whipped cream, which, in his eyes, could heal the souls of many, or at least until the sugar high wears off.
Devlin spoke about how Starbucks having the sweet Chai makes them best. It’s harder to enjoy a spiced Chai, when he couldn’t think of a word to describe how it tasted; fellow senior Alec Wayne chimed in,
“It tastes like ginger,” Wayne said.
“The pumpkin Chai was on fire,” said Devlin when I asked if he had tried the fall drinks this year.
Your green light is available if you need approval to purchase the pumpkin Chai. When I asked him to rank the Starbucks he had been to, he could only give one rating.
“El Jebel equals El Jebest!” I know where I am getting my next latte.
While Devlin is now famous for his love for Chai, he also has a passion for college football. He believes he performs best in the game when he has a Chai the day before. This holiday season, Devlin is looking forward to the sugar cookie Chai.
“For Christmas, I want a Starbucks gift card, preferably $42, and a d1 school ship”. With $42 worth of Chai, Devlin is sure to increase his skills in lacrosse and get that scholarship.
