Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Finally, Marvel has come out with another action thriller: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, hit theaters April 4th to millions of waiting fans. These fans were not let down, as the movie contains more action, new characters, and twists in the plot than the first movie ever did.
In Marvel’s newest release, Captain America, aka Steve Rogers, is trying to adjust to his new life in the modern world after the preventing an alien takeover in the last Avenger’s movie. While getting used to his new life, SHIELD, the organization that tries to prevent world disasters and tends to bring superheroes together in the world’s greatest time of need, is now creating a new plan to help ensure the protection of humanity at all costs.
Steve Rodgers, being in his 90’s and all, thinks the new plan for protection is wrong and immoral. But when his friend Nick Fury, everybody’s favorite guy with the eye patch that just happens to be in almost all of Marvel’s films, is targeted, Captain America teams up with the Black Widow and Falcon to get to the bottom of things before they all get killed. During the movie, a new enemy is uncovered, the Winter Soldier, who is trying to kill and also has an unusual tie to Captain America.
But the movie, while entertaining, did have a downfall in the sense that the plot seemed tired and overdone. It was the typical action movie, trying to save the world against a new arch nemesis, with a number of explosions and fight scenes scattered throughout the movie.
Although it was a regular action film, it did get personal and touch the hearts of the audience when Captain America goes to visit his love from the first movie. But since it has been almost 70 years since they have seen each other, Peggy is dying. That’s not the only part in the movie that can pull a few tears from viewer’s eyes; throughout the movie Rodgers embarks on situations that are heartfelt and show the true character of Captain America.
This movie is perfect for the Marvel fanatics, action junkies, and teenage girls who enjoy attractive men because Chris Evans, the actor who plays the immortal Captain, is not hard to look at. Although this movie was over two hours, I do not view it as a waste of my time and think that everyone should go out and see it, because you will enjoy it.
