On Wednesday, September 10th, at an event at Utah Valley University, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot in the neck. This was Kirk’s first stop on “The American Comeback Tour,” a series of live events held at various universities. A spokesperson for UVU stated that a shooter fired from a building on campus approximately 200 feet away from Kirk.
Kirk was well-known on social media for his political debates and right-leaning political activism. He has millions of supporters across various platforms and co-founded Turning Point USA, a non-profit organization that advocates for conservative politics to be taught in schools.
At 2:40pm on Wednesday Sept. 10, President Trump released a post on Truth Social confirming Kirk has died. Kirk was 31 at the time of death and is survived by his wife, Erika Frantzve, and two children.
The suspected shooter, 22-year old Tyler Robinson is in custody as of 10pm on Thursday night. He is a unaffiliated with any political party and did not vote in the past two elections. This is an ongoing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
