Sweater Weather

Summer outfits transform into fall/winter outfits-as the weather changes.

As the weather changes, so must fashion. Although you don’t want to let go of the warm weather, late nights, and summer clothes, it all must be put away. . Living in Aspen we are lucky enough to get the extremes of all seasons, and with each season comes a new “look” for everyone. As summer transitions into fall, which transitions into winter, there are many steps that must be taken to change your style for the upcoming seasons.

Summer Styles:

Now, the style of the summer is casual, and let’s call it… limited coverage… for the heat right? Summer is the time of the year when everyone is happy and free to wear anything they want. Although the heat does take over some days, it is not necessary that the entire style of the summer is “limited coverage”. Some common outfits that are perfect for the summer, is shorts and a tank top or even a t-shirt.

Fall/ Winter Styles:

When the season changes from summer to fall there is a big difference in clothing. Instead of wearing shorts, tank tops, and t-shirts all summer in the heat, fall styles definitely become cozier, including pants and sweaters. Sophomore Avery Royer raves about fall fashion.

“I get tired of wearing crop tops and shorts, and am so happy I can finally wear fuzzy socks, boots, and sweaters this fall,” Royer said. After a long season of wearing shorts, it is nice to finally have more options to wear, from boots to hats; the autumn brings out many new styles. The winter style is much like autumn, with the cozier outfits including: scarves, jackets, boots, pants, and sweaters there are many options. Since the winter is so long in Aspen, and it’s during the school year, outfits are a very important aspect of a student’s life.

Colors:

Outfits and colors change depending on the seasons, and fashions and colors do too! Light and crisp colors work best in the summer, and sometimes a cool color can be added in to the mix for a fresh look. Some summer colors include, yellow, light blue, light green, light pink, orange and white. When the leaves start to turn from the summer green to the gorgeous yellows and oranges, it is time for fashion to change colors as well. With the surrounding orange leaves, some nice colors to transition into the cozy winter include dark red, brown, navy, a few shades of yellow, auburn, and some shades of purple. These neutral colors are mostly warm and they accent the natural changes going on around you. Since the winter is frosty, the colors that can cope with the chill are also crisp and chilly. Some good winter colors to balance with the cold are, grays, black, dark blue, dark purple and sometimes browns (for a touch of warmth).

Avoid Bulk/Accessories :

Since the air is getting colder, obviously the clothing must get warmer. Some nice ways to look cozy without looking bundled in the fall is to simply add a scarf, or a shawl. This way you wont look puffy, and you still have something to keep the chill away. No one wants to look puffy and bundled like those elementary school children going out to play in the snow. A simple way to avoid practically wearing a snowsuit to stay warm during the day is to wear warm clothes in the morning, and then shed layers as the day goes on. Or you can easily wear a cute jacket to stay warm and still look fantastic!

Importance of fashion:

Some may argue that fashion is non-essential, and its just another aspect that adds towards the perfect picture society presses on everyone. But fashion is a way to express yourself and it is an art within itself, you can put your image out towards the world through fashion. With this perfect image in mind, fashion does not have to add to the picture, fashion is simply clothing, not personality or a persons looks, yes clothing can compliment a person but it does not define you. Through every season fashion changes, the styles, colors, bulkiness, and opinions of people must transform with the natural cycle.
