What’s Hot When The Sun Goes Down
The summer music lineup in Aspen will be as hot as a spring day on the Aspen Mountain Sundeck. From June through September, Aspen and Snowmass will be home to concerts featuring everything from reggae, punk rock, jazz, and soul to Scottish bagpipes. The summer is packed with plenty of music and filled with excitement for the city of Aspen and town of Snowmass Village.
The summer’s start to the music madness kicks off at the Belly Up club in downtown Aspen. On June 1, Buzzcocks with the Outfit is the featured band. The music is described as punk rock or punk pop genre. Following that, on June 3 the electronic rock and alternative dance band The Ghostland Observatory, plays. On June 7, summer in Aspen gets wild when reggae artist Ziggy Marley performs. For more information about upcoming events and concerts, check out www.bellyupaspen.com.
In Snowmass, there are free concerts on Fanny Hill most Thursday nights and some Saturdays beginning June 11. The line-up starts with Royal Southern Brotherhood on June 11 and Leftover Cuties on July 14. The Snowmass free concerts are all about enjoying yourself on the mountain with friends and family.
“Every year, my sister comes home and with my brother and we all go to the concerts in Snowmass. We all love how it is free and never lets us down for good music and entertainment,’’ said AHS sophomore Charlotte Couturier.
Get the June Experience also at Jazz Aspen Snowmass with appearances from award winning Grammy-winning artist Sheryl Crow plus Diana Ross, who is known for her 1960s pop/soul trio the Supremes and also her lead roles in “Lady Sings the Blues” and “The Wiz.” Right behind those stars follows “The King of Motown,” Smokey Robinson, and other acts that are still to be announced. All the music takes place on June 24-July 2 at the Benedict Music Tent.
