Crocs on Runway

When I first heard that Crocs were on the London Fashion Week runway, I thought having crocodiles was an edgy, awesome idea. Then, I realized that it wasn’t the reptile, but the shoe. These rubber shoes are the ones I used to wear as a kid and not have to worry if I stepped in a puddle. I wasn’t so sure they were fit for the runway until I saw the photos.

Christopher Kane brought Crocs into play in an abstract, phenomenal way. The Crocs have come in a special edition marble design. Seeing the shoes in London has given me faith in them coming back in style.

“Working with Christopher reinforces our belief that our iconic clog is incredibly relevant in today’s style arena…” said Michelle Poole, Senior Vice President of Global Product and Merchandising for Crocs in Patrick Rich’s update.

The many charms I collected as a kid to put in the signature holes of the shoes were replaced with sparkling stones. The fashion designer’s idea to portray in his collection is to take everyday casual items and transform them into desired ones. Walking past a Crocs store, I never would’ve thought to walk in and get a pair. The outdated shoes have been of my mind for years, but I have fallen into the trance and am now deeply attracted to them.
