A Few Reasons Why to Watch 13 Reasons Why
13 Reasons Why is being talked about everywhere. The 13 episode Netflix show that came out March 31 is gaining popularity fast, and I can see why. The show deals with some tough subjects while keeping you interested after every episode. The basic premise of the show is that a girl, Hannah Baker, has just killed herself and left tapes describing the 13 reasons why she did it. The tapes are passed on from person to person. Everyone who receives the tape is one of the reasons Hannah killed herself. You first see the tapes when Clay Jenson, a seemingly nice guy, receives a box of tapes on his front porch. He goes to listen to the tapes and hears the voice of Hannah Baker. He is of course taken aback knowing what happened. The show goes through each person per tape as you see flashbacks of what happened. More suspense is built as you go through the tapes and begin to understand what happened. As you see more and more flashbacks of Clay and Hannah you start to wonder what he could have done to be put on the tapes. As Clay listens, the kids who have been mentioned start talking about how he hasn’t even gotten to the worst part yet. They start to band together as a force against him. Saying that they need to shut him up. As I watched I increasingly became curious, but I knew that nothing mentioned would be good. After the party scene I started to see the life lessons that came with the show. I saw the dark message that you could not ignore. As the show ended I was crying my eyes out. It was sad, but I am glad I watched it because I feel I learned something. Some lessons I learned were that you should always be looking for signs and if you see something even a little concerning you need to speak out. One part in the show that really shows this is when another character kills himself. After this was mentioned I realized all the signs that were shown. So if you are thinking you might watch the show to see what all the talk is about I recommend that you do.
