The Aesthetic Blender: Fashion trends made popular this summer
After a summer of VSCO trends, the Tumblr famous Art Girl, and the birth of the e-girl and babyish soft girl, certain aesthetics have amassed a cult following. VSCO is an editing app, famous for its filters used on thousands of peoples Instagram posts. Now, it’s known as an aesthetic, encompassed by puka shell necklaces, scrunchies, and Hydro Flasks. Unlike the VSCO trend, the e-girl is 2019s version of goth. This edgy style incorporates chains, lots of chains, followed by dark colors or patterns. A soft girl, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of an e-girl. A soft girl comes with pastel colors, butterfly clips, and a more sweet and innocent look. The term art girl was first discovered on the social media platform Tumblr, but soon created a subculture of girls obsessed with all things art and fake round glasses. Thanks to the app Tik Tok ( an app where people make short videos lip-syncing to songs or dancing), these aesthetics have blossomed into stardom.
VSCO Girl
If you love shell necklaces, scrunchies, Hydro Flasks, oversized t-shirts, and vineyard vines, you can officially say you’re a VSCO girl. Congratulations! Hopefully, you say “And I oop!” and “sksksks” all the time because those should be your favorite words. Here are some cute ways to spice up the VSCO trend:

The E-Girl
This isn’t just a phase, its a lifestyle. If you love chains, punk or alternative music, and dark colors, the e-girl aesthetic would be perfect for you. Not only is it the 2019 version of goth, but it also incorporates trends from the 90s. This includes striped sweaters, turtlenecks, Doc Martens, and plaid prints. Here are some clothing items that would look fabulous with an e-girl aesthetic.
Sharp Witted Ball Chain Necklace
Dolls Kill

Wasted Worship Chain Belt
Dolls Kill

The Soft Girl
Soft girls are polar opposites of the E-girl. They love clips and headbands in their hair, and tons of blush, usually peach or pink colored. This style includes oversized sweaters/t-shirts and jeans/skirts, which aim to recreate childhood trends, reminiscing a very innocent or child-like vibe. You can find them wearing pastel colors, tennis skirts, and white chunky tennis shoes. A great inspiration for this aesthetic would be @douxfairy on Instagram.
