Favorite Holiday Movies
When this time of year comes around, people can’t help but want to snuggle in and throw on a holiday movie. The holidays are unique because there are endless amounts of movies about them. I took the liberty to discover the most wonderful holiday films out there by asking several students what they love to watch when the temperature drops and holiday lights fill the neighborhoods.

Polar Express is about a young boy who falls asleep on Christmas Eve and when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he finds himself on a train to the North Pole. When he arrives, they learn how Santa prepares for the big night. With several twists, the movie about believing is a must-see. Phillips recommends Polar Express to anyone in the holiday spirit.

Elf is a comical favorite. Will Ferrell stars as Buddy the Elf where he chooses to move away from the North Pole in search of his father. The movie touches on family dynamics and true childhood. This movie will keep you laughing for days to follow.
This movie is about two women who feel worse than ever just before the holidays. In the spur of the moment, they choose to switch homes where they find happiness within all of the drama around them. The Holiday is perfect for anyone who needs a pick-me-up in the holiday season.

When a divorced man, Tim Allen, unintentionally kills Santa, he finds himself as the replacement. He and his son must figure out how to save Christmas while all the bystanders think he is crazy.

White Christmas is an old time romantic comedy. A song and dance team pair up with a sister act to save the Vermont Inn with their wonderful performance. Even though it was made in 1954, it has not lost a bit of its mojo.

The Grinch is a classic. Jim Carry swoops in to steel Whoville’s beloved Christmas. The lighthearted movie will keep you entertained and cracking up. Plus, who’s not to mention little Cindy Lou Who who wants to include everyone no matter how big or small their heart is.
