Catching Fire
If it’s possible, some believe that it could be more of a hit than One Direction’s new album. Teenagers have been waiting on lines for three days now, camping out so they won’t lose their spot in line. Could this be America’s new favorite series?
Catching Fire, the sequel to the Hunger Games, based on a book written by Suzanne Collins, is coming to theaters on November 21, 2013 at midnight. Sources say that there should be lines all the way from Aspen to Glenwood. Catching Fire is premiering in Aspen’s Isis theatre on Thursday night, so teachers beware, there may be a few bobbing heads in class on Friday.
“I was so excited to see the movie so I went to see the midnight premiere. Josh Hutcherson is the love of my life,” AHS junior Gaby Magana said.
There are three books in the Hunger Games series, and they have all been an incredible success since the day they were released.
“I have read each of the books ten times. They are those kind of books where you can read them over and over and you will pick up on something new each time you read them,” junior Piper Hamill said.
AHS sophomores, Zoe Starensier and Kyle Rosin, were fortunate enough to have traveled to LA this past weekend for the Catching Fire premiere with the whole cast from the movie.
“Although I haven’t read any of the books, I’ve literally become obsessed after seeing the movie so I might have to read them all,” Starensier said.
They got to meet almost every cast member and take pictures with them. Then they were able to watch the movie for the first time ever.
“I thought the movie was extremely well done. Francis Lawrence did an amazing job. I was so into it the whole time,” Starensier said. “I liked the second one better. I thought it was more eventful and flowed better than the first. It was also a lot funnier and involved a lot more romance with Gale, Katniss, and Peeta (love triangle!!).”
Catching Fire will be one for the ages. Just during the first weekend of the movie, Catching Fire brought in $175 million. Just during the first night, they made around $26 million. All I can say is that I highly recommend this film. It is better than any of the “Harry Potter” movies, “The Dark Knight”, and even “Hunger Games”.
Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, and Peeta Mellark, played by Josh Hutcherson, are fresh off of the success of their previous Hunger Games win. They embark on a publicity tour, which makes them realize that each District is furious. They sense that rebellion may be an upcoming event. President Snow decides that, rather than having a normal Hunger Games, a recall Games will be held. All surviving victors will be put in the drawing box this time.
Catching Fire is filled with suspense, action, and a little bit of humor. It is for anyone from middle school and beyond to enjoy. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it became one of your favorites movies of all time!
