Superintendent test

SATIRE – The race for the superintendent position at AHS continues with four candidates remaining – Tharyn Mulfruit, Tammy Clementine, Anschutz, and David Boo. However, on February 7th and March 2nd, the real test was given in hopes to narrow down the options further. The Board of Education assigned each candidate to call a snow day and were evaluated based on their judgment of the conditions. Mulfruit and Boo were well prepared for the surprise but Clementine and Anschutz were definitely caught off guard, nearly compromising their position.

Tharyn Mulfruit, the principal at AHS for the past five years, had no issues navigating his decision-making process.

“Psh, I totally saw this one coming. I mean, what better way to get the job than to give the people what they want – a snow day with just 3 inches of snow and clear roads; it’s a dream come true!” Mulfruit said.

The less practiced candidates, however, were a little underprepared for such a task.

“I freaked out when I saw the email in my inbox. I couldn’t believe Mulfruit called the snow day at 9:30 the night before! I spent all night trying to make the right choice,” Clementine said.

The Board of Education later announced that choosing to allow a snow day was the correct call, leaving Boo and Mulfruit in the lead for getting the job. However, the other two contenders wiggled their way back into the running after they took the Board on an intense day of skiing, in which they promised a Cloud Nine lunch break and face shots all day long.

“I mean, really it was a win-win for all of us. If I’m superintendent, I may just call snow days every day!” Anshutz said.

With one more snow day remaining in the 2019/20 school year, the new superintendent may just be decided by the next big snow, and it sounds like Boo has a secret trick up his sleeve.

“It’s pretty simple. In order to make this third snow day happen, early in the morning, I’ll get buckets of water and splash the roads in front of the Bus Barn. There will be guaranteed snow days and a guarantee to my spot as super intendant!” Boo said.
