Suicide Squad characters, ready to fight off the bad guys

SUICIDE SQUAD movie review:

Amazing or down right horrific? The main characters of the film, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), The Joker (Jared Leto), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and Enchantress/Dr.June (Cara Delevingne) were excellent actors however there weren’t as many “get to know them” scenes, which makes the whole aspect of Suicide Squad a little less appealing.

Every superhero movie has action, however Suicide Squad chose more action than character development, which is key to any story.

It starts off after Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, where a secret government agency led by Amanda Waller decides to recruit imprisoned supervillains as a backup if the hero’s of that day somehow turned on the government, and the people of Earth.

To make sure that the supervillains don’t turn on the government, they inject nano bombs into their necks so if they ever rebel or try to escape they would automatically set the bomb off, killing them.

However there is a different threat that they must face together which is a witch-goddess known as “Enchantress” who has possessed an archaeologist named Dr. June Moone. Amanda Waller however possessed the Enchantress’ heart, making her easier to control, as the Enchantress is still a wild spirit. Unfortunately, Waller felt that wasn’t enough so she sent Flag, the commander of the suicide squad, knowing that he would fall in love with Dr. June Moone, making Flag a weakness to the Enchantress and vice versa. However Waller’s plan didn’t work and instead fueled the Enchantress’ anger even more to create Enchantress’ brother who helped her to siege Midway City.

But during some scenes there are some flashbacks between Harley Quinn and The Joker, showing their horrible, twisted relationship (definitely NOT relationship goals) and Deadshot’s daughter whom is the weakness to the assassin. These characters were two of the many characters in the film who were actually mildly developed.

Confused yet? It only get’s worse.

Amanda Waller then deploys the squad to stop the Enchantress, however many of their attempts fail because the Enchantress creates an army of humans-turned-creepy-monsters. They eventually give up and head into an abandoned bar and there you finally get the awaited scenes of backgrounds on the characters. Oh wait only on one of them.

At the end of Suicide Squad, Diablo sacrifices himself to Enchantress’ brother, and gives the responsibility of killing Enchantress to the rest of squad. Since Flag is in love with Dr. June, it is extremely hard for him to kill her, because he believes that he would also kill Dr. June. In the end, she survived without being possessed.

Overall, a very confusing and interesting movie, yet a definite must-see.
