Trump Leads the United States To War with North Korea
President Trump is treating a potential war on the Korean peninsula like a cliffhanger on a T.V show. He has repeatedly threatened to wage total, and possibly nuclear, war on the small nation of North Korea. This has resulted in countless heated exchanges between Trump and the the nation’s leader, Kim Jong Un. Tensions between the two megalomaniacs and their countries have been skyrocketing over the last few months. Both the United States and North Korea have threatened to use nuclear weapons if provoked. However, if war were to break out, countless Koreans, Japanese, and possibly even Americans would be needlessly slaughtered.
On Wednesday, September 19th while speaking the the United Nations general assembly, Trump stated that he was prepared to “completely destroy” the small communist nation. He also referred to the country’s 33 year old leader as “rocket man”. Earlier this year, Trump also claimed he would deliver “Fire and Fury” if provoked. This confirms that Trump and his cronies are seriously considering the use of civilization ending nuclear weapons in this conflict.
The North Korean regime has been planning to reignite the nearly 70 year old civil war in an effort to reunify the peninsula. They have made leaps and bounds in their rocket technology and even tested a 250 kiloton hydrogen bomb in August. The explosion was so large that it created a 6.3 magnitude earthquake along the Korean coast. Experts also believe that their rockets are currently capable of striking Seoul, Tokyo and the continental United States. In addition, the North has hundreds of thousands of conventional artillery guns capable of destroying Seoul, and the nearly 10 million people that call it home. There is no military solution that doesn’t result in hundreds of thousands residents of Seoul dying in the first 30 minutes.
It seems President Trump and his cabinet have no quandaries with accepting the massive loss of life that is sure to follow this potential war.
“Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid…hasn’t worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, makings fools of U.S. negotiators. Sorry, but only one thing will work!” Trump tweeted.
Trump has decided to abandon the values of diplomacy in favor of total war. Trump lacks the intellect and heart necessary to understand the true impact of this move.
Republican Senator Bob Corker even made a point to call the president out over this.
“It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.” Corker said in a tweet.
“The president could easily be putting us on the path to World War III.” He remarked.
Many students at Aspen high are also concerned about the recent escalations. Sophomore, Louise Lipsey finds the news discouraging.
“When I heard that Trump was threatening war again I was honestly terrified. Its horrible to think about how many innocent people would die. I hope that someone can bring him to his senses. I think that if there was another Korean war it could easily be as deadly as Vietnam or Iraq for the United States.” Lipsey said.
The question still remains as to if president Trump is actually willing to launch such a broad, deadly, and costly offensive. If so, there is no doubt that he will go down in history as a warmongering moron.
