Aspen High School kicked off the 25-26 school year with an exciting new pair of Co-Heads. This role is recognized as the most important student leadership position as they help manage events, guide student senate decisions, and set the tone for school culture. Carter Kuhlman and Margaret Buck have been determined to make this a year of connection, inclusivity, school spirit, and pride. Most recently, they were in charge of creating our weekly student senate letter to promote communication.

Carter Kuhlman

As a lifelong Aspen School District student, Kuhlman has always been deeply involved in sports, clubs, and other community events. He is known for his positivity and views his co-head leadership as a chance to create a culture where everyone feels valued.

“I really want to help people and lead us to a place where everybody at school is super nice to each other. I just want people to be proud of what they do at school, and be able to show that to everybody,” said Kuhlman.

Kuhlman plans to achieve these goals by promoting under-recognized teams and activities with organized nights dedicated to celebrating them. This year, he is looking forward to major traditions like Spirit Week, Homecoming, and Powerpuff.

Margaret Buck

Buck is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, and moved to Aspen in 2020. She quickly embraced herself in student life: serving as her class secretary and president for two years while also managing the school’s social media accounts and announcements. Her motivation to become co-head came from her interest in leadership and inspiration from AHS Alum.

“Freshman year, I saw how much positive influence student leaders had on the school,” said Buck. “I thought, why not try if you have the ability to do that?”

This year, Buck hopes to strengthen school spirit – specifically at sporting events. Thus far, she acknowledges a promising start to a strong student section for football and volleyball games. She is also excited to support clubs and traditions such as Action in Africa events, Hope Week, and Powerpuff.

“Every year, these events are so much fun, and they bring everyone together,” said Buck.
