The 2025-2026 ski season at Aspen Snowmass had many ups and downs. Despite the limited snowfall at the start of the season, which tested the limits of both the snowmaking crews and the patience of locals, the resort proved that the Aspen spirit isn't solely dependent on skiing.
While January brought much-needed snow to maintain the thin conditions of the mountain, the late-season heat led to several mountains closing early. Buttermilk was the first to fall on April 5, followed shortly by Aspen Highlands. Aspen Mountain’s closing occurred on April 19 and was a bittersweet celebration. While we didn’t get the spring snowstorms in March – but instead in April – as we hoped for, the final après-ski party (which was free to foot passengers) ended the season with a bang, proving that a shorter season just makes every run count more.
The lack of powder didn't slow the new festivities at Aspen Snowmass. One highlight was undoubtedly The Chainsmokers’ concert at the top of Aspen Mountain on February 15th.
Another remarkable event was the X Games, where Buttermilk saw massive crowds for Disco Lines, Alesso, and the return of the Night Big Air event. The sold-out, two-day weekend event provided the perfect adrenaline boost when the snow conditions were lacking.
Finally, the event that took the Buttermilk Superpipe by storm was the return of Snow League. The Snow League originated in Aspen with snowboarder Shaun White as the first-ever professional snowboarder in the world. This year was the debut season of this competition, and it returned to the valley as its 3rd stop out of 4.
Aspen Snowmass didn’t let the weather slow down its upgrades on the mountain. This season debuted the new mountains, with nearly $80 million in upgrades to improve the efficiency of the mountains. On Snowmass, the new Elk Camp Six-Pack and the Cirque T-bar improved the efficiency of lift lines, doubling the lift production of the T-Bar. Near the Cabin on Snowmass, a new Hot Dog restaurant was installed, inspired by Los Angeles cuisine.
Ultimately, the 2025-2026 season was a reminder that, between the world-class concerts and the on-slope enhancements, Aspen remains one of the top ski resorts, not just for skiing, but also for the aprés festivities.
