Aspen, CO– The Aspen School District has appointed AHS principal Sarah Strassburger as the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction according to an announcement released by the district on April 23, 2026.
Strassburger, who has worked at the district since 2006, will move into a district-wide leadership position. Her 20 years at AHS has included four years as assistant principal and six years as principal. Superintendent Tharyn Mulberry cited Strassburger’s leadership experience and familiarity with the district and the community as key factors in her selection.
“Sarah’s 20-year legacy at Aspen High School is defined by her passion for student growth and her ability to lead through complex transformations. She understands our students, our teachers, and our community’s values,” Mulberry said.
In a statement, Strassburger said that she looks forward to supporting students and staff across the district in her new role.
“My goal remains the same: to prepare our students for meaningful futures and to ensure Aspen School District continues to lead with excellence and innovation,” Strassburger said.
In the coming weeks, the district will begin to search for a new high school principal to take Strassburger’s place. According to the school’s release, additional details about the hiring process will be shared with the community.
