People from around the world gathered in Snowmass for the annual JAS Aspen Experience this Labour Day weekend. With headliners like Maroon 5, Hall & Oates, and Keith Urban, tickets to the three night festival sold fast. The lively atmosphere attracted thousands of people. A sea of concert goers flooded the area surrounding the Snowmass recreation center causing various traffic delays. Dozens of busses ran all night to and from the venue.

Olivia Zweig is a sophomore at AHS, and a annual concert attendee.

“I’ve been going to Jazz Aspen each year for as long as I can remember. Being a local, I always see tons of other high schoolers that I know. I couldn’t get that at any other concert. If you let go of the fact you’re surrounded by a bunch of adults, especially ones that you know, it can be a blast.” Zweig said.

Many concert goers hailed from out of town. Niki Glass, a sophomore from Los Angeles attended all three concerts.

“ Jazz Aspen was an amazing experience, coming from L.A especially. It’s a completely different type of concert environment. The feeling of a community coming together to enjoy the lively atmosphere was presented throughout the entire weekend. It’s a great feeling when you’re enjoying something so much and you get to turn to a complete stranger and know that they are having the same experience as well.” Glass said.

Many of those who traveled from out of town were astonished by the sheer natural beauty of the surrounding area.

“Everything was truly astonishing; Mountains and luscious fields of grass shining under the stars and moonlight, of course along with the bright stage lights adding to the colorful scene. For someone coming to the city, it was a sight to see. The performers themselves even mentioned how beautiful the setting was, and how fortunate they felt to be able to have the opportunity to perform there. Overall, it was a glorious experience and I am eager to revisit soon.”

The concerts left many people excited for next year. There is no doubt it that those who choose to return will have equally as much fun.
