Recent studies have shown that houseplants improve concentration and productivity by up to 15%. Indoor plants are not only beneficial to the visual aspect of your home, but are also good for purifying air and boosting your mood. With everyone spending much more time at home lately, indoor plants are a great way to relieve stress and help make this time easier. Here are five indoor plants that will improve your home.

  1. Snake Plant- Snake plants, or Dracaena trifasciata, are one of the most popular indoor plants. The snake plant is easy to care for as it can live in any light –indirect light is preferred– and they only need water once a week. These plants purify the air in your home and have a unique look and pattern.
  2. Aloe Vera- The aloe vera plant has a multitude of benefits and has been used for hundreds of years. This succulent can be used to heal topical skin injuries, such as sunburns and wounds. The plant requires little care as it only needs to be watered occasionally and prefers indirect sunlight.
  3. Chinese money plant- Pilea peperomioides, more commonly known as Chinese money plant or pancake plant, is known for its interesting shape and its symbolism for wealth. The Chinese money plant is very low maintenance; it needs water once a week and minimal sunlight. These plants will not only brighten your home’s appearance but also purify the air.
  4. Air plants- Air plants are by far the easiest plant to have in your home. They require neither a pot nor soil and only need to be soaked in water once a month. Air plants are also very good at purifying the air in your home by removing toxins. Additionally, they need minimal sunlight.
  5. Jade plant- The jade plant, or Crassula ovata, is a succulent that supposedly brings luck and wealth into one’s home. The jade plant is almost impossible to kill and they can grow to a very large size as well. However, jade plants need full sun exposure and water every couple of weeks.
