Lillian Burrows, a senior at AHS, is a very passionate and talented artist. As a credit to her talent, Burrows and her friend, Ally Lasser, were chosen to draw three different renditions of a possible school mascot. When the mascot is completed, we will be able to see Lillian’s work on a regular basis possibly hanging in the school or present on signs and jerseys at sporting events. Some other works of hers are seen by many, but none of them are signed; she does all of the signs and chalkboard menus for Boogie’s Diner. That amounts to a fair bit of chalk work in just a few months.

Burrows may excel at chalk work, however it is not her favorite medium to use.

“I really like creating my drawings in ball point pens, and also charcoals are really nice, and then just pencil,” she said.

When asked if there is any other particular subject or medium that she prefers, Burrows responded, “I like doodling eyes a lot, but I also like drawing people and hair, and I like drawing dogs too.”

Burrows can be seen almost everyday at work in the art room, creating one of her many amazing art pieces.

“For me, art means a mode of creativity. It’s nice just to be able to draw something up and show what I can do.” She said “I think art helps me calm down. Also, when I am happy and I draw, it makes me feel even happier. I am proud of what I do, and it’s how I express myself.”

Lillian is very passionate about her drawings and is hoping to pursue that passion in art school.

“I have been looking at a lot of art schools lately. I am mainly considering one out in California, named Otis,” Burrows said.

Through art, Burrows has truly found the thing that makes her most happy in life. She has learned a lot in the past few years as an artist, and wanted to share some of her wisdom with all other artists in the making.

“If you are interested in art, just keep up with it. It’s not as hard as a lot of people think.”
