BREAKING NEWS – Pitkin County has reported that Snowmass Creek Road is closed due to a fire. The county identified the blaze as a “Wildland Fire,” which is a conflagration in vegetation and not in a building.
“First responders are on scene and working to suppress the fire,” said Pitkin County in an EverBridge Alert. Residents are advised to “use Watson Divide as a detour if driving to the upper Snowmass area.”
“I heard sirens, one after another, and then the distinct smell of smoke filled the air,” said Woody Creek resident Michael Ward. “Which is always a worrying scent in this valley.”
